First let's start with the wooden post.
Step 1: Measure the mailbox length and width from inside
First of all, turn over your mailbox and properly measure the length and width from inside.

Get 1″ thick wooden board which we gonna use to place our mailbox.

Step 5: Set the mailbox on the board in the center
Now try to place a mailbox on board in the center and eyeball each side for proper fitting.
After placing it check the mailbox door by opening and closing few times to check any interference with the board.
Try to cut down your board a little bit from the front so it will not interfere mailbox door.
